After commuting an hour each way to farm flowers and hemp in east Boulder for the last 3 years, Karina decided it was time to simplify.
By going back to the drawing board, I reinvisioned a micro flower farm to be right outside my doorstep...
I spent 2024 and 2025 making my dream a reality. Lots of work setting up new flower beds, experimenting with flower varieties that could survive our rough terrain, and moving wood chips to improve soil quality. At last Bloom Tango was born! (Then 'merch' followed shortly there after, lol. Yes really. Here.) The fire horse Lunar Year 2026 is well underway and my seed trays are vigorous with growth as our mountain meadows start to green up.
My plan to grow flowers 'at altitude' in a mountain meadow (zone 5B!) was at first thought, a crazy idea given all the critters who like to eat here too. Then there's the swings in weather. Colorado Rocky Mountain extremes. And plain old-yet-new again floods and fires.
I have lived on this land for 26 years and are closely intwined with the perennial dance of plants through the seasons.
Many amazing flowers grow here with help from humans gracefully working in the local ecology to grow cultivars that feed our pollinators. I am delighted to be part of the web of life and share them with you in such a beautiful way!
